First off, Paulette didn't get baptized because she wants her family to
be along for the splash as well. So she is wanting us to teach her
family! Which is perfectly okay with me! Sandra and two of her kids are
getting baptized this Saturday though!! Super excited for her!!
Monday
was P-Day so we went to play basketball with some kids next to the
college here. It was pretty fun. They call me White Steph Curry because I
was raining threes on them. No biggie๐
In all honesty, this whole week was spent contacting because almost
every lesson we had planned this week fell through. But! Elder Call got
here in Tuesday! That was so cool to see him again! Saw Paulette on Thursday and had a pretty good lesson but Friday
morning she called us and told us that she doesn't want to be baptized.
She did come to church though and explained it all to us. This week has
been pretty rough honestly but I just want to let every one know that
Heavenly Father has tested our patience this week. He put us through a
lot to test that and we honestly thought about giving up on Sandra. But
the Lord has blessed us with a huge surprise from Sandra. It was a huge
sigh of relief for Elder Greenwade and I. I know that if we push through
all of our trials until we feel like we can't give anymore, push more.
The Lord will bless you in what you are working on. I know He will.
I hope every one has a great week! I love you all!

Week 36
Hey guys!
Monday was P-Day and to be honest we didn't really do anything fun or exciting. Just got our shopping done and went and chilled at the church which was nice. Some times you just need to sit and relax.
Tuesday morning Elder Mitchell Christensen and I ran a mile in 6 minutes and 47 seconds and I wanted to die. I'm so out of shape it's ridiculous! But we have shaved off 30 seconds every time we have ran a mile! The first time we ran a mile it was like 8minutes then so on so forth. It feels good to run! Anyways, the Christensen's car was getting fixed so we had to drive them to the dealership so they could pick it up. After lunch some of our appointments feel through so we went tracting. Wasn't too hot that so so it was nice. Saw an inactive member who said they were gonna come back to church this week! And said that next time we com over he would feed us! I love Haitians! They always feed people! Later that night we went to see Paulette! Paulette is now on date to be baptized this Saturday! The lesson we had with her was awesome. We invited her to pray and ask if the Book of Mormon is true, if this is Christ's Church once again on the earth, and if Christ's authority was in this church. After her prayer we sat there to let the Holy Ghost answer her prayer. We sat there for about three minutes and she started to get emotional. I asked her if she felt like she got her answer and she said yes. Immediately Elder Greenwade asked her to be baptized by that authority that she prayed about and she said she would. So next Saturday is her baptism! After Paulette we went to see Sandra and see how she felt about being baptized this last Saturday but she didn't feel ready but that's okay. We will continue to work with her and her time will come.
Wednesday started off with District Meeting like usual. On our way to lunch we got a flat tire so we had to swap our that tire but we didn't have a good jack to lift up the car or a tire iron. We called Sister Dauphney Smith because she has her own tire shop. So she sends her son with a tire iron and a good jack. We get the tire replaced then head out for lunch again. We had a lot of our appointments fall through so we went to get the tires that went flat swapped out for a new one. Got it on the spare rim and away we went. Did a lot of contacting that day because our lessons fell through.
Thursday we had most of our morning Elder Mitchell Christensen and I ran two miles! I almost died! My legs were so stiff and sore afterwards! That two miles kicked my butt! Anyways, we had most of our morning appointments fall through so we spent the morning confirming our afternoon and things like that. We picked up Brother Watson to go to a lesson with us so he could translate into Creole for Island. No it's not island, it is pronounced Is-Land, weird but cool! Anyways, Island is Haitian and has a testimony of the Book of Mormon already. She just hasn't been to church because first, she didn't have clothes, second her kids didn't have clothes. But now she has been really wanting to come! She came this last week! After her lesson we had coordination meeting with the Branch mission leader, Brother Scut who is a RM. He served in Florida. After the meeting we went to see Jackson and his family! That family is so humble! We finished teaching them the Plan of Salvation and they loved it! They are an awesome family. I hope and pray that I will be here still to see them get baptized!
Friday we had weekly planning like always. Went and did some contacting for a little bit before we went to see a Haitian Lady that we contacted a week ago. We invited her to church when we first found her and she came! Her name is Erlandie. We took Brother Watson over there with us to translate for us. She is cool she said that she was gonna read the Book of Mormon and try to come to church this week. We taught her the Restoration and she didn't have any questions. She said that it all made sense. After her we went to see Paulette. Now that Paulette is on date to be baptized this coming Saturday, we have been trying to meet with her every night so that we can teach her everything before Saturday. We finished the Plan of Salvation that day and started to get her to think about who she wants to baptize her and things like that. Paulette will be the my second investigator that the Lord has blessed me with to be baptized! Later we went to a guy named Donavon. He lost his daughter a few years ago due to cancers and he is just a very humble guy.
Saturday morning wasn't too busy for us. We did get transfer calls though. I am staying here in Nassau with Elder Greenwade. I will "Kill" him. When you are your companion's last companion you "Kill" them. This is his last transfer. We got all of our studies out of the way the inspected our car, had lunch, then went contacting until our lessons that were supposed to be at 4, 5, 6, and 7 that night but they ALL fell through! We spent the whole day contacting! It was a pretty long day you could say but if was nice to talk to a lot of cool people. We met an older lady from Peru! In Peru she lived right next door to the Church! She went to a lot of the activities and things as well! She even gave us some mangoes from her tree!
Sunday was church! Elder Greenwade had a talk to prepare for so I had to prepare for Gospel Principles class. After church we went to the Ferdinand's for lunch, which we haven't been to in a long time! It was soooo good! Man their food is the best Haitian food I've had on my mission! Went to see a Jamaican that we contacted, had out 6 o'clock appointment fall through so we went to see Sister Whitney. We talked about the Jackson Family and how the Whitney's can help us teach families and the Law of Chastity. Jackson and Maria aren't married yet so we have to address that before they can be baptized. It was a really good lesson that we planned out for Jackson and his family.
I want my family to know how much they mean to me. Being out here on my mission has been very humbling for me to see so many broken up families. I am grateful for my family and for all the preparation that they put into starting this family. The gospel has definitely been a huge blessing in our lives and I am now sharing that knowledge with families so they can become eternal as well.
My challenge for people this week is to do something for your family that shows your love and appreciation for them.
I love my family! I love you all. Have a great week! Peta from Nassau!✌๐ผ

Week 35
This week has been all over the place.
Monday we went to do service for a member whose floor caved in on itself. Also, Monday was the Bahamas Independence Day so there were a lot of basketball games and activities going on! We spent the whole day at the members home mixing cement and hauling it into her house to fix the hole. I had to mix cement with my hands! Pictures soon follow!
Tuesday was our P-Day due to the holiday on Monday.
Wednesday we had district meeting in the morning. Then we had our whole day fall through... So we spent most of the day tracting... Not the most fun thing todo but also kind of fun because we get to show people that we are willing to spend two years of our lives in the service of our God and those around us. Had a lesson with Germaine which where we read 3 Nephi 11 with him. He noticed how Christ called others to be Apostles. He committed to come to church but never answered his phone..
Thursday, again, most of our day fell through because we couldn't get a church brother to go with us to the lessons. Spent a lot of the day tracting again but oh well. Missionary work must go on!
Friday was weekly planning! Elder Greenwade and I get to sit across from each other and just roast each other on things we need to work on! Haha just kidding...Kinda... We spent a lot of time running around because appointments kept falling through! We helped one of the Church sister set up for a birthday party at the church then had to run and help the other elders take home members from their last appointment for that night so they could get home on time.
Saturday I went on a trade off with Elder Dylan Christensen, my trainer! Man it was so fun to be with him again! The trade off was a really weird on though because Elder Mitchell Christensen and Elder Greenwade's car over heated. The water pump went out in the car so we had to drive them around as well as get to our appointments. It poured rain almost all day so there wasn't any contacting for us but Elder Christensen and I were able to go see Sandra! We talked about the Word of Wisdom and the Law of Chastity. It was a really good lesson too. She is still on date for this Saturday, hopefully, because she is still nervous about making that step! But she is more than ready!
Sunday we were fed by Paulette! She is our investigator and she is just awesome! We hope she is starting to see the importance of the Priesthood. She has been to church for 3 weeks and she loves coming! She loves the members and how fun it is and also how spiritual it is! She is awesome! Went and had dinner at the Bazile's home and talked about how small Downey is๐ Elder Greenwade describes a small town as a town with 6,000 people in it. Then I'm like, try growing up in a SMALL town with only 600 people in it that are all getting ready to give up the Ghost!๐๐ I wouldn't trade growing up in Downey for anywhere else though!
Well, that's all for the week! Hope every one is still reading their Book of Mormon and throwing questions at it! It will answer all of them! I know it will. Stay strong with the Spirit and listen to his counsel. I love you all!

Week 34
Atlantis is Amazing!!
Monday was awesome! We went to Atlantis! Sister Ballard got us in for free! I have tons of pictures that I will send too so don't worry, you will see how awesome my mission is๐
Tuesday was America's Birthday!!๐๐ผ๐๐#Merica And it was packed with lessons and none of them fell through! Started off the day with seeing Paulette. We had a lesson on the god head because she asked a few questions on that, talked about the importance of the Book of Mormon, and also about the Spirit and how he talks to us. It was a great lesson! We took Brothere Eyers with us and they we just awesome together. Brother Eyers shared his testimony on the Book of Mormon and it make Paulette tear up and almost cry. The Spirit was so strong in that lesson. Went to see Devonee to see if she has been reading and praying. Devonee, we think, is not all the way there mentally so we are taking it slow with her because if she isn't all there, we don't want to be responsible for her Judgement day so we are taking it slow with her.
Wednesday most of our day fell through so we did a lot of contacting. Nothing too exciting.
Thursday we had a drop lesson with Devonee because she isn't showing an interest in becoming a member. Just learning more of the Church off of YouTube. Not a good source... went and saw Demitri who is slowly trying to get his mother to let him be baptized. Some lessons fell through again. But we did get to see Sandra! We taught her part of the Plan of Salvation! It was a very good short lesson. Very spiritual.
Friday was weekly planning like always. We saw Yorick who had been out of Nassau for a while. Kind of just followed up with his reading and things like that. We set home on a soft baptismal date so we are hoping that he will start to take things a little bit more seriously. Later that evening we had pizza with sister Charlene and man is she funny!! I love her attitude about every thing! Then we went to see Sandra again! Finished the Plan of Salvation then started to introduce her kids to the lessons!
Saturday I went on a trade off with Elder Mitchell Christensen. We went to go do service for Sister Reed, cleaned the baptismal font, and went contacting for a little bit before dinner with a member. Afterwards, we went to the baptism. The Elder Christensen's (both of their last names are Christensen) had a baptism. After the baptism Elder Greenwade and I went to see Sandra again.
Sunday Sandra and her kids, Paulette, and Maria and her daughter came to church! Paulette brought up baptism to Elder Greenwade so we are, hopefully, going to be talking to here about that today! Went to the branch President's house for his Birthday party, then went to see Captain Ron! Aka Brother Piere! He is a tour guide and is just awesome! I love talking with him because we can turn any conversation into something spiritual. And he loves us coming over too. It helps him with his missionary work as a member!
One thing that I have realized since being on my mission is that no matter what the members are doing out here, they will drop everything for the Church. Yeah some of them can't really do that but a lot of them do. Do we do that? Do we put the Church first in every situation? Or do we let worldly things run our lives up until Sunday? I challenge EVERY ONE WHO READS THIS to put the Church first for a month and see how much happier you will be. If you are falling behind in your calling, use this time to catch up! If a member calls you for help and asks you to do something, DO NOT reject them. Put them first. The Lord will see that. The Lord WILL bless you for that. I know this to be true. I, humbly, say these things in the name of our Beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
I love you all!

Week 33
Monday! We went shopping because we like to play tourist every now and
then๐ I bought some REEEAAALLLYY soft sweats because we have an A/C
unit in our room and I freeze at night and I bought a sweet Bahamas hat!
I'll send pictures of them here soon. For lunch we went to a place
called Fish Fry which has a ton of different places to eat right on the
beach. We went to Curly's and had some Conch fritters. If you don't know
what conch is look it up๐ I don't know how to explain it and it would
take me forever to do try and do so! Later that night we went to a
Family Home Evening with the family that has crazy kids! Twins and a
little boy that just never stop moving! I don't know how the mother does
it!๐
Tuesday we had Zone Conference with the North Coast Zone is Jamaica so we had to skype in for that. Not gonna lie I would much rather be there in person that to try and fight stupid wifi all the time๐ For lunch we went to Dairy Queen and showed off our Blizzards to every one in Jamaica because they don't have a DQ over there๐ After Zone Conference we went to see Sandra and her son Tyrell to teach them about the Plan of Salvation. Tyrell loved the fact that there is more than just Heaven and Hell. It's a lot better than that. Later we went to the Scott's house for dinner. They made pork chops!๐ฉ Man I love food!❤️ Tuesday night rained like crazy! There were lightning strikes and thunder all night long too! At about like 4 in the morning there was a HUGE lightening strike that was so bright it woke me up! Then the Thunder after that was so loud! We thought the house was gonna crumble!
Wednesday morning we didn't go play basketball because it was off and on raining. We didn't feel like getting wet so we did workouts in the house. Except for Elder Greenwade... he went out side to do sprints on the street in front of our house. He was soaked! On our way to see this kid that we contacted about 5 days ago that's apparently, a good baseball player, we ran into some complications. The street that he lived on was flooded! And we drive a little Toyota Yaris so we weren't about to drive through it and flood our car! So, we rolled up our pants, took our socks and shoes off, and started walking. I have pictures of it so don't worry mother๐ Anyways, we get to his house and we taught him part of the Restoration but we tried keeping it simple for him. After lunch we went contacting for two hours.๐ณ Most of our appointments fell through so we just went contacting. We saw this family that lives by the church. Jackson and his family. Man they were so excited to see us again. Jackson didn't go to work that evening because he knew that we were coming over! We shared more information about the Book of Mormon and who wrote and so forth. They are really looking for the truth.
Thursday we had a lesson with a young man named Warren who seemed pretty interested in the Church because he said that after had first met him, he had looked up the Church online and read about Joseph Smith a little bit. So he was pretty interested in the church. After lunch we went to see an awesome member who is only about 16 years old and she is doing great in her own member missionary work. She has been sharing info about the church with her friends and inviting them to come for a while now. Later that evening we saw a lady named Paulette. She also did a little research on the Church after we had first met her and asked a few questions about polygamy. She has had a bad experience with the pastor of her former church so she does call that her church any more. But we had a really good Restoration lesson with her. She was actually fasting that was she could learn to feel the promptings from the Spirit easier so it was really cool on the time that we found her. Anyways, she committed to come to church and she did! She came and loved it!!
Friday we had weekly planning and then had our whole day fall through!.. We spent the whole day driving around and contacting because all of our lessons cancelled on us. It was a very long day...
Saturday the same thing happened. A lot of contacting because we had people fall through.
Sunday was awesome. It was fast and testimony meeting and I got up and bore my testimony on making preparations to fight against the Adversary. I got a lot of comments on my testimony afterwards and I am grateful that it touched so many people. Paulette came to church and so did Devonee. They both loved it! After church we went to an investigators house, Sandra's, to have lunch. And she fed us BBQ Ribs!! Oh man was it good!! Not as good as my dad's ribs but they were really good!! Then after her we went to the Ferdinand's to eat with them too. They always cook for the missionaries so we couldn't leave them hanging. We had rice and chicken and cake. Man was I stuffed to the point my stomach hurt! So much good food here in Nassau! After we ate we went to see Maria, Jackson's Wife. We talked about her kind of growing up in the Church and how that if we keep the commandments the Lord will prosper us in the land. That is the most quoted scripture in the Book of Mormon. We went to see Brother Piere again and man I love talking to that guy! No matter what subject came up we were always able to connect it to the Gospel some how. Brother Piere is definitely some one I want my family to meet! He is a tour guide too so when I bring my family over he is the one I'm going too! He so awesome! Very Christ like and very happy! I love Brother Piere! Later we went back to Sandra's house to talk about the Plan of Salvation. She kind of already knew most of it so it was very simple to teach it to her. We invited her to be baptized in 3 weeks and she excepted! She is just an awesome mother! Has 5 kids living with her, 2 of them are old enough to be out on their own and 3 of them under the age of 18. She is very humble.
I probably gained 6 pounds that day too because the food was so good!๐๐ผ
Anyways, I just want you all to know that no matter what we may be facing in life, there are ways prepared for us to over come them. The Lord is very merciful to his children. He knows what we are all going through. He has been in our shoes. He knows all the struggles that we face and he knows how to over come them. No matter how big or how small. He has seen and felt it all. I am very grateful for the Lord and for every thing that he has done to show us the way back to Him and Our Father.
I love you all and I wish you all a Happy 4th of July!!๐บ๐ธ God Bless the U.S.A.!! #Merica ๐๐๐๐ฝ
