Tuesday was district meeting and lunch with all the Elders like usual. We tried to go up and see Nioka but we weren't able to make it up there so we just had to go finding in our area. Didn't have too much success there but what do ya do.
Wednesday morning we went to chop yard for Keisha. She lives in the same yard as we do but she owns a small garden across the river so we had to ride to get there. All the rain that we had made the weeds grow tall! I have pictures of what we did and how much more we have left to do! But yeah we did that for her then on our way back to the house we stopped at the grocery store to buy some drinks for lunch. Right as we were about to walk into the store this older man called to us from his car. We walked over to him and he asked us if we were carrying machetes in our backpacks (Yes we were and the handles were sticking out the tops of our bags) so we told him yes and he kinda looked at us like, "What in the world are two white guys doing carrying machetes in the backpacks walking into a store?" We told him that we were choppin yad for a lady. He was surprised that we knew how to chop yad! So we said our goodbyes and we walked right into the store with our machetes! As we were about to hop on our bikes and leave this lady came out and was kind of eyeballing our machetes right next to us. We asked how she was doing and she was hesitant to reply. We told her the same thing we told the guy in the car. She was also surprised that we knew how to chop yad! She commended us for working hard in the sun all day and for choppin yad. Later that day we went up to Allen and Murdel! The rest of his family wasn't there but we reviewed all the lessons with them and then told them that that might be the last time we see them! So I asked them if we could take a picture which I will send home today but I also need to get a printed one for them! So Elder Harris and I will be doing that today. Oh and Elder Harris told a little Pikni(kid) that he was a red man not a white man. So Elder Harris has two nicknames. Elder Pinkie and Red Man. Later that night we went up to see the Harrison's! Man I love that family! They are awesome members and are always looking for ways to help missionaries and the ward! We haven't been able to go teaching with them but they are very excited to help us in any way possible! We had dinner with them and talked about ward stuff with them and ways we can help get them more excited about callings. I'm excited for Brother Harrison to bring the ideas up to the bishop. Brother Harrison is the 2 counselor in the bishopric too. And Wednesday marked the completion of 6 Months!
Thursday we spent most of the morning cleaning the house and doing laundry. After we had lunch we called all the potentials in the area book and set up some appointments for next week. After doing that we went contacting and didn't have much success but oh well. That night we burnt our ties with Elder Call at our house! I have pictures that I will send of us all! We were gonna burn them on Wednesday night but we were at Brother Harrison's house so we didn't get home till 9. Alright so when Elder Call and Elliott showed up we went outside we soaked our ties in Pyro Bug Spray so they would burn. We lit all of them as Elder Elliott took pictures! It was so funny! Elder Call was spraying his tie with the Pyro while it was on fire and it shot flames! He held it a little too long and the flame started climbing the stream to the can!! It was a hilarious and scary moment! But don't worry! Nothing bad happened; we are all okay! After we burnt the ties we went in and had rice that Elder Harris had cooked for us. Rice with sweet and tangy BBQ sauce is pretty good! It was an awesome night with the Elders from the MTC district!
Friday morning we had weekly planning like usual and then the zone leaders came to inspect our house. After they inspected our house we finished planning then went to see Georgie! He wasn't home but another less active member named Lin was there so we talked to here for about a half hour. After we left there we went contacting in Georgie's neighborhood area. Couldn't see a potential investigator like we wanted to but we went to see a member who can not physically make it to church because of a blind eye and really bad knees and ankles! We shared a spiritual thought on how merciful our Lord is to all of us. Truly was a heart felt meeting. After we left we went contacting again before we went to Friday night activities. It was pretty boring this week.
Saturday was way cool! We had a Mission Conference! The entire mission except for the off island missionaries met in Kingston to hear from Elder Martinez from the Area 70 and from Brother Owens who is the Genereal Young Men's President! Man was it a spiritual meeting! Wish I could type it all out for you but I'm not that skilled and it would take too long! Sorry not sorry. After they talked to us we had lunch then all the zone leaders, sister training leaders, and APs talked to us on their topics. Then we had transfer calls right there in front of everyone! They announced EVERYONES transfer calls!! I am going to the Office with Elder Ludlow! I will be driving around the island helping other missionaries with broken stuff in their houses and things for the President and a lot more! I am excited to be there with Elder Ludlow who is also a fellow Idahoan! #idahome
Sunday was my last Sacrament Meeting in Spanish Town and I was asked to get up and speak. I spoke about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End. "Life is like a spiral staircase" as Brother Owens told us missionaries. Always doing those things I just listed but always moving up. Towards God. Then for the last hour of church our bishop had a really nice lesson for the 5th Sunday! He talked about clay and the potters hands. Natural man is the clay and his hands were the Lord. As he formed the clay into a beautiful pot, he demonstrated lives struggles, changes, and hardships. But the Lord's hands were firm in changing the life of the natural man into something beautiful. After church I said my good byes to the members! After some contacting we met up with the other Elders to go up to the Moodie's for dinner! The Moodie's never disappoint and I love meeting with them! They make such good food and are always very spiritual when it comes time for the spiritual thought. I love the Spanish Town 1st Ward and I will miss them all very much! Kingston here I come!
I hope you all can learn something as I have from all our leaders in the Church as well as in our own wards! Follow their examples and take heed to their counsel. The Lord will shape you all into beautiful masterpieces! Love and Respect from Spain Town, Jamaica!
