So this week was crazy! Monday was a holiday. We did service for our land lady which was just picking up trash around the yard like old roofing shingles etc.. That took up most of the day. We went and saw Yorick again for the first time in weeks! He was questioning why bad people will get resurrected. So we talked about the Plan of Salvation and it must have hit him pretty hard because he said he was going to come to church! Later that day we took Brother Ferdinand to see a Haitian investigator. Brother Ferdinand is awesome! I love him and his family!
Tuesday was our P-Day but we had a reverse P-Day. We went and saw Christopher again and finished the Restoration and started part of the Plan of Salvation. We also went to see Sandra and her kids so we could start putting the baptism together. After emailing we went to the Cancer Society Center and I bought some small Cancer pins for myself and for my mother. I love supporting Cancer Societies! I love you Grandma!🎀 Didn't really do much after that besides get a nice watch fixed that I got from Elder Mitchell Christensen.
Wednesday morning we saw Wendal, had lunch and companionship studies, then went looking for a church brother to go with us to see Sister Smith, Sister Meadows, and then we stopped by Jackson and Maria with Brother Kemp. It rained HARD over here that day too! It was like pitch black that day!
Thursday we tried to see Sandra's kids but couldn't get a male there so we would make random stops by the house to make sure they were reading the pamphlets to prepare them for the baptismal interviews. Had coordination meeting at the Seawell's house with Brother Scutt. Went and had lunch at Brother Watson's parents house, who are Haitian! I looove Haitian food!! We went to see Sister Oniece then had a crazy hard time getting a church brother to go with us to a lesson with Sandra's kids on the baptismal interview questions! We literally called every church brother in our phone to go with us and couldn't get anyone! We had to go pick up the church brother that we had used to go see Oniece. After the lesson we took him to get a DQ Blizzard and he loved it. Also gave him a pamphlet that talks about preparing for the temple. He loved it!
Friday morning we went and did some running around for a member that wanted us to open the church grounds for them so they could take care of the grounds. Had lunch then started our weekly planning. We found a pretty cool less-active family. The Taylors were baptized a while ago and went less active a few months before I got here. We got to know them then we went to set up Baptismal interviews for Dacorya and Nathan! That went very well! I love having interviews!
Saturday was Zone Conference with Kingston and Spanish Town Zones. We skyped over to Jamaica to listen to the conference. There was a lot of cool topics selected to be spoken on. When it was time for lunch, elder Wood told us that Lunch was on the Mission! We went and feasted!! Then sent in the Receipts for the food to get reembersed for the money! After the Conference, Elder Greenwade and I spent the remainder of the evening cleaning and setting up the room for the baptism! I was the one to baptize them! It was so spiritual even though hardly anyone showed up... I absolutely love this family! They are just so awesome!
Sunday we went to the Ferdinand's for lunch and stuffed ourselves like always! When to see Jackson and Maria with Brother Whitney and had an awesome Role Model lesson with them. Went and saw Brother Pierre for the first time in a while and talked about preparing for a trip to the temple. He is excited to start working towards that now! I'm excited for him as well! After brother Pierre we went to the church and had companionship studies then headed to Sandra's house to start working with her to establish Family Home Evening nights. She told us that they used to do that stuff! Of course it wasn't called family home evening and they didn't teach the gospel but they used to get together as a family and just have fun! As they got older it kinda died off like it does for most families but they did it! So we started talking about that and also how we could start working with Sandra's older two boys; Tyrell and Mark who are both above 20 years of age. They still live with her but it is very hard to see them because of their work schedule. But, we set up a day where we could come back and sit down with the older two and try to work with them again.
After I had baptized Dacorya, she was walking out of the font and when she got to the top she stopped, turned to me and said, "I feel good." As she said it she had a smile on her face and man did the Spirit really touch me at that moment. I have watched Sandra and her family struggle with financial things, with family things, and not once did she stop coming to church and ask us not to come over. There was a week were we couldn't get a hold of them but now they are members of the Church and now have the Holy Ghost as their constant companion. They all knew they were making the right choice and Dacorya said it for all of them. "I feel good." I am so blessed to have seen this family grown closer to each other as well as closer to our Lord and Father in Heaven. No matter what we all go through, as members of the Church, we will always have "His Spirit to be with us." Call upon His Holy Name if you ever need anything! He is just waiting for us all to turn to Him and ask, "Father, I need help. Please help me through this." I know He will help you! I testify that He will! Not because He has to but because He wants to. Family and friends, I know that my Redeemer lives. I know that He has suffered for our own personal struggles and sins and mistakes. He knows what you and I need. Jesus the Christ, loves you. Father in Heaven, loves you. I love you. I humbly say and ask of these things. In the name of our Savior, Jesus, Amen.
